To our family, friends and supporters,

Something we will never know is Why Us?  Why Molly?  If you ask us how long it’s been since Molly died, we would have to do the math, it’s not a number we pay attention to.   It’s about what we’ve done because of her life, what we’ve done since her death.  Because Molly lived, and because she died, we are US.

There are many Us’.  Families just hearing the word cancer, kids hospitalized from the very drugs that are meant to save them, memories desperately captured, funerals planned, lives celebrated and missed.  Sometimes we are ahead of these families – we have years of cope in us, but often we are simply with them, beside them and behind them.  These families teach us, every child teaches us.  We share Molly’s story and lessons and we listen to theirs, learning how to better take care of her hospital friends.

Molly began this legacy of taking care of her hospital friends and these families continue to shape what Miles from Molly and The Molly Thompson Memorial Fund does.  We focus our giving on Child Life at Randall Children’s Hospital, because that is where Molly’s hospital friends are. 

Her legacy has evolved into a huge circle of love and resilience.  Parents who carry the burden of worry and fear and kids who are happy and playful, silly and fun to hang with.  It’s not easy being Us, but it’s possible.  Family’s living life in the hospital with their kids – it’s being done every day.  So, we make it a little bit easier, a little more fun, a little more silly.

And it’s more than just Us.  It’s our community and volunteers and donors that have so much passion for Molly’s hospital friends.  The kind of giving that requires nothing in return.   Molly’s legacy was built on love and compassion and that is reflected in our supporters every year.

Why US?  Why Molly?  We don’t know.  Why you?  Why them?  We don’t have an answer, but what we do know is, it’s not me, you or them – it’s US.  And we walk together, play together and desperately capture the memories and fun that Molly’s legacy gives US.
